LABYRINTH WALK

Meditation, Labyrinth Walk
Meditative Labyrinth Walk

Spend time in meditative prayer as you walk the monastery Labyrinth

A labyrinth is different than a maze, though the two are often confused.  There is only one route to the center and back out again; no blind alleys, dead ends or tricks.  It is only by keeping to the path, step by step, twist by turn, that one arrives at the physical center of the labyrinth, which signifies arriving at the center of our own lives and souls.

The labyrinth is the oldest contemplative and transformational tool known to humankind.  It was used for centuries for prayer, ritual, initiation, and personal and spiritual growth.  In the past few years there has been an astonishing and sudden popularity of the labyrinth.

The labyrinth at the Sisters of St. Benedict in Grand Terrace is the CHARTRES pattern.  It is named after the permanent stone labyrinth set into the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France during the 13th century.

Holy Spirit Monastery is nestled in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains at the base of Blue Mountain.
